Dreyer wins 1500, Elge hits NCAA provisional mark in hammer throw at Loper Invite

            Senior Quentin Dreyer won the 1,500-meter run and senior Daniel Elge posted an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw with a third-place finish Saturday for the Wayne State men's outdoor track and field team at the Loper Invite held in Kearney.
            Dreyer's winning time in the 1,500-meter run was 3:55.53, a season-best. 
            Elge was one of three Wildcat throwers to place in the hammer throw and took third with an NCAA provisional mark of 193' 11".  Jaxson Ninete came in fourth at 189' 1" while Alex Altman took eighth at 172' 10". 
            In the discus, Daylin Mallory took fourth at 155' 2" followed by Ninete in sixth (151' 5") and Sameul Zazueta placing eighth at 148' 7".  Mallory also had a fifth place finish in the shot put with a top mark of 51' 1 ¾". 
            Other top finishers for the Wildcat men were sophomore Elliott Nottlemann taking third in the high jump clearing 6' 2 ¾" while Waylon Sherman was eighth in the 200-meter dash in 22.79 seconds.
            The next meet for Wayne State is Wednesday when the Wildcats compete at the Mount Marty Twilight meet in Yankton.
