The Wayne State College men's 4 x 400-meter relay team set a new record Friday afternoon to highlight several Wildcat athletes competing Thursday-Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
           The quartet of
Alex Razee,
Wyatt Nissen,
Mujeeb Adewuyi and
Emmanuel Badejo produced a time of 3:16.91 to eclipse the previous school record by just over two seconds (3:18.94) and held by Jared Balady, Derek Lahm, Mike King and Zach Thomsen in the 2014 season.
           Senior thrower
Daniel Elge made the finals Saturday morning in the hammer throw and finished ninth with a top mark of 188' 8".Â
           Other individual Wildcat results from Drake saw freshman sprinter
Mitchell Hupp take 15
th in the 100-meter dash prelims with a time of 10.56 seconds. Fellow freshman Emmaneul Badejo was 17
th in the 400-meter dash prelims with a time of 48.50 seconds.
           Three other relay teams also competed at Drake. The 4 x 800-meter relay team of
Quentin Dreyer,
Brody Lucas,
Ethan Walters and
Akron Jostand placed 16
th with a time of 7:48.03. The 4 x 100-meter relay of
Luke Klabenes, Hupp, Nissen and Badejo were 14
th out of 38 teams in 41.95 seconds while the distance medley relay quartet of Lucas,
Austin Madsen, Walters and Dreyer were 15
th Saturday morning in 10:22.36.
           Wayne State will compete again Wednesday at the Maverick Open #1 meet in Mankato, Minnesota.Â
