Buena Vista Dennis Young Classic Final Results

                The Wayne State College men's indoor track and field team won two events and set one new school record Saturday at the Dennis Young Buena Vista Classic held in Storm Lake, Iowa.  Wayne State was one of 12 teams competing at the meet along with host Buena Vista, Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt College, Iowa Central CC, Midland University, Morningside College, Mount Marty, Northwestern College, University of Sioux Falls and the Missouri-Kansas City women. 

                For the Wildcat men, junior jumper Alex Timperley picked up the lone individual win by taking first place in the triple jump at 46' 1 ¼”.   The other first place finish came in the 4 x 200 meter relay as the foursome of Michael King, Timperley, Chris Oberg and Mickey Doerr crossed the line first in a time of 1:32.85 to set a new school record.  The old school mark of 1:36.07 was set in the 2000 season by Scott Asmus, Cory Prochaska, Adam Brandl and Kellin Bretschneider. 

                Other top five men's finishers included Jason Schaaf finishing third in the one mile run (4:37.65), Jeff Mills took third in the pole vault (13' 8 ¼”) and Lee Anderson captured fifth in the 1,000 meter run (2:41.30).              

                Wayne State will be in action again next weekend traveling to Seward, Nebraska for the Concordia Invitational Saturday.
