South Dakota Kickoff Final Results
Pierce sophomore
Logan Moeller captured first place finishes in the long jump and triple to lead the Wayne State men's indoor track and field team Saturday afternoon at the South Dakota Kickoff Meet held at Dakota Dome in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Moeller started the day with a first place finish in the long jump at 23' 1 ¾" and came back later to take first in the triple jump with a top mark of 47' 2 ½", which was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Freshman
Quentin Dreyer was second in the one mile run at 4:35.15 with teammate Gabe Peitz seventh at 4:46.82 while
Brandon Mitzel finished third in the 3,000-meter run at 9:34.72.
In the 400-meter dash,
Alex Leuenberger was second at 52.12 seconds,
Austin Madsen came in third at 52.46 and
Edgar Rodriguez was sixth in 52.85 seconds.
Freshman
Mitchell Rudie claimed third place in the 600-meter run (1:26.29) and
Andrew Wyllie was fifth in 1:28.58.
The 60-meter hurdles finals saw freshman
Keaton Wattier finish third in 8.52 seconds with
Alex Brandt taking fifth at 8.59.
Waylon Sherman was seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.45) and
Wyatt Nissen came in eighth at 23.82.
In field events,
Dylan Kneifl and
Alex Brandt each tied for third in the high jump both clearing 6' 6 ¼" while
Braden Johnson captured seventh in the long jump at 21' 4 ¼".
The men's shot put saw
Drake Peed finish fourth (48' 0"),
Matthew Logue fifth (46' 1 ½"),
Debonaire Williams seventh at 39' 11 ¼" and
Joshua Olesen eighth with a mark of 39' 5 ¾".
In the weight throw,
Grant Fritsch was second at 58' 1 ¾",
Wyatt Sindelar fifth (51' ¼"),
Daniel Elge sixth (48' 10 ¾"),
Jake Peitz seventh at 48' 9 ½" and
Matthew Logue eighth at 46' 9 ½".
The Wildcat 4 x 400 meter-relay team of
Alex Leuenberger,
Edgar Rodriguez,
Austin Madsen and
Mitchell Rudie placed third in a time of 3:29.25.
The Wildcats compete again next Saturday, January 21, at the Polar Dog Invite held at Concordia University in Seward.
