Wildcat men seventh at Midwest Classic thanks to event wins by Kneifl and Moeller

Midwest/Emporia State Classic Final Results

            The Wayne State College men's track and field team placed seventh out of 16 teams with 50 points Sunday at the Midwest/Emporia State Classic in Kansas.  Dylan Kneifl (high jump) and Logan Moeller (long jump) scored event wins to lead the Wildcats.
            Host Emporia State won the team title with 186 points followed by St. Mary in second at 79.  Iowa Central CC (76), Fort Hays State (74) and Washburn (69) closed out the top five teams.  Missouri Western edged Wayne State by one point, 51-50, for sixth with Wichita State eighth at 41 points.
            Moeller, a sophomore from Pierce, won the long jump with an NCAA provisional mark of 24' 9 ¾" that now ranks tied for seventh in NCAA Division II. 
            Kneifl picked up a first-place win in the high jump clearing 6' 9". 
            Cody Rogers came in third in the triple jump at 46' 8 ¼" and Braden Johnson was sixth in the long jump (22' ¼").
            Three Wildcats placed in the top eight in the shot put – Daylin Mallory fifth at 51' 3 ½", Daniel Elge sixth (50' 6 ¾") and Drake Peed eighth at 48' 6 ¾". 
            In the weight throw senior Grant Fritsch placed sixth (172' 2") and Wyatt Sindelar was ninth at 162' 0". 
            Quentin Dreyer was eighth in the 1,500-meter run (3:59.63) and Gabe Peitz was ninth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:55.66.
            Wayne State's 4 x 100-meter relay team of Caid McCart, Jordan Porter, Wyatt Nissen and Waylon Sherman was fifth in 42.9 0 seconds while the quartet of Mitchell Rudie, Peitz, Nissen and Debonaire Williams finished seventh in the 4 x 400 meter relay at 3:30.88 seconds.
            The Wildcats' next meet is Wednesday at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton.
