2/15/2025 8:01:00 PM

Two more school records were set by the Wayne State College men's track and field team Friday and Saturday at the South Dakota State Indoor Classic held in Brookings at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.  The meet attracted nearly 1,200 athletes from 28 schools from NCAA Division I, II and III along with NAIA and junior college levels.
Freshman Emmanuel Badejo broke his own school record in the 400-meter dash taking second in 47.72 seconds, an NCAA provisional mark.  It bettered last Saturday's mark of 47.85 set at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne.
The other school record came from the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Alex Leuenberger, Wyatt Nissen, Mitchell Hupp and Badejo who finished sixth with a time of 3:18.24, topping the previous school mark of 3:21.04 set in 2010 by Michael King, Drew Molacek, Aaron Garza and Andy Jansen.
Junior Daylin Mallory had a strong third place finish in the shot put at 51' 8 ¼".
Freshman Alex Razee took fourth in the 300-meter dash in 35.61 seconds.
Other top finishers were Daniel Elge fifth in the weight throw (56' 10 ¾"), Elliott Nottlemann sixth in the long jump (21' 6") and Wyatt Nissen sixth in the 200-meter dash in 22.50 seconds.
Wayne State competes again on Friday, February 21st at the SDSU Last Chance Invite in Brookings.
