The Wayne State College men's outdoor track and field team sent around 10 athletes to compete Wednesday at the Maverick Open #1 meet held in Mankato, Minnesota.
           Stanton freshman
Mitchell Hupp posted an event win in the 200-meter dash taking first with a time of 20.92 seconds followed by teammate
Wyatt Nissen next in second at 21.48 seconds.
           Sophomore
Jaxson Ninete also recorded an event victory taking first in the hammer throw at 191' 1". Freshman
Samuel Zazueta posted an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw taking third at 187' 7" while
Jake Peitz was fifth following a top mark of 180' 5".Â
           In field events, sophomore
Elliott Nottlemann had a personal-best mark of 23' 2 ½" in the long jump to finish third while freshman
Nate Decker was fifth at 21' 11".
           In the discus, Norfolk junior
Daylin Mallory produced an NCAA provisional mark in the discus at 166' 5" while Ninete finished seventh at 147' 2".
           Wayne State will close out the regular season this weekend competing at the South Dakota Tune Up Meet in Vermillion Friday and Saturday.Â
