Stanton freshman
Mitchell Hupp posted wins in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes to lead four Wayne State event wins Saturday at the Concordia Indoor Track and Field Classic held in Seward at the Concordia University Fieldhouse. The meet featured Division II teams from Concordia Irvine (Calif.), Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State along with NAIA schools including host Concordia, Briar Cliff, Benedictine and Bethany of Kansas, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Hastings, Kansas Wesleyan, Mid America Nazarene (Kan.), Midland and Mount Marty.
Hupp collected his first win of the day crossing the line first in the 60-meter dash finals in 6.89 seconds and followed that with a win Saturday evening in the 200-meter dash finals at 22.13 seconds.
The Wildcats collected two other event wins in field events as senior
Daniel Elge placed first in the shot put with a mark of 52' 5 ½" and was second in the weight throw (58' 1') while sophomore
Jaxson Ninete had the top effort in the weight throw with a winning mark of 58' 8".
Daylin Mallory had a second-place mark in the shot put with a toss of 51' 11".
Freshman
Emmanuel Badejo had a stellar debut for the Wildcats in the sprints taking third in the 60-meter dash (6.97) and another third-place finish in the 200-meter finals in 22.56 seconds.
Sophomore
Elliott Nottlemann posted a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 22' 2 ½" and was fourth in the high jump clearing 6' 2".
Quentin Dreyer took fourth in the one-mile run in a time of 4:18.22 and was fifth in the 1,000-meter run (2:34.15).
Other top finishers for the Wildcats included
Alex Razee fifth in the 400-meter dash (51.64), senior
Wyatt Nissen was sixth in the 200-meter dash (22.67),
Brody Lucas seventh in the 800-meter run at 2:03.14,
Austin Madsen took eighth in the 400-meter dash (52.33) and
J'Dyn Bullion was eighth in the weight throw at 51' 8 ¼".
Wayne State competes again next weekend in Mankato, Minnesota at the Mark Schuck Open Friday and Saturday.
