Jeff Lutt

Jeff Lutt was a two-sport standout at Wayne State College, excelling in baseball and football. The Wayne High graduate played baseball at WSC in 1991, '92 and '93 and played football for the 'Cats in 1991, '92, '94 and '95. Jeff's best season in baseball was in 1992 when he was 7-5 with a team-best 3.35 ERA as a pitcher for the 'Cats. He tossed a complete game one-hitter to beat NAIA national power Bellevue University 4-1. Lutt was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in 1993 as a right-handed pitcher and played for the Pirates Class A New York-Penn League team in 1993 and the Pirates' Class A South Atlantic League team in 1994.

In football, Lutt was a pre-season All-American candidate in 1995 after recording a team-high 11 quarterback sacks in the 1994 season. He finished the 1995 season third on the team in tackles with 64, including nine quarterback sacks. Lutt went on to play two seasons with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League (1996 and '97).

Lutt was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 1, 2005.
