Marty Going

 

Marty Going starred in football and baseball at Wayne State College from 1969-72. He was an honorable mention All-American first baseman in 1970 with a .394 batting average. The 1973 graduate also quarterbacked the Wayne State football team to back-to-back Nebraska College Conference titles in 1970 and 71, going 3-0 in conference play with wins over Kearney State College, Chadron State College and Peru State each season.

 

Going was a successful football coach at Millard South High School in Omaha. He won the Class A State Championship in 1995 and was the Class A runner-up in 1996, coaching the school for just over 20 years. He was also a top basketball official in the state, officiating numerous state high school basketball tournaments.

 

Going resides in Omaha and was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1991.
